The last HooRah of summer is upon us. This coming Labor Day Weekend I predict there will be grills blazing, buns toasting and tunes playing all of it surrounded by good friends and family . Happy Labor Day weekend everyone. You’re listening to Living the Freedom Life podcast and this is Episode 112 and today we are talking about Get Up Stand Up.

Ah yes. Good music by the pool, the grill going and being surrounded by good friends. That’s what summer is about. Traditionally, Labor Day weekend signifies the end of Summer.

There is a special place in my heart that’s reserved for the music of Bob Marley and the Wailers.

This song in particular speaks to me. Not for the fact that we were married in Jamaica, or that the backbeat makes MY head bob up and down.

But the message behind this song, it was a time of oppression. It was a time of sadness and darkness; right in the middle of poverty.

How many of you feel that you are in a dark place, or feel broken? How many of you listening today feel that the enemy is just gaining some ground? It feels as if every time we make one step forward, advance a little more, then we get knocked back even further than we gained.

After a few cycles of experiencing that, it beats you down. It makes one feel as if “This is my lot in life.”

Well, what I would like to say to you today, is that it is NOT the will of The Father for you to feel broken. I can tell you that it breaks His heart to know that you are feeling that “This is my lot in life.”

God didn’t create you with mediocrity in mind.

In fact, if you’ve accepted Jesus as your personal Savior, then you are no longer mediocre in any way. Because that part of you is dead. It’s gone. The part of you that feels like the enemy has gained ground, that person is dead, hung on the cross without a chance of survival. Every time you think of those Roman Soldiers gouge, spit, poke, and stab that body hanging on the cross, let that be insurance of that death.

Why? Why am I painting such a grim picture of this?

Because each time we feel beat down by the enemy, it is ridiculous. Because you know this, when JESUS was on that cross, HE died a death that we should have died. Remember, we are crucified with Christ as it says in Galatians 2:20. What that means is that old person that we were, is dead. I mean DEAD and it is finished. The good news part of that is where Jesus trades that death we were supposed to experience for giving us, His life. His royal, divine life. Now, it says that we are joint heirs with Him in the Heavenlies (Rom 8:17).

Now, here is my point and the reason I was playing you a Bob Marley song earlier.

That divine life that’s inside you, is Jesus Himself. He is in you. That’s no joke! That’s reality!

It seems that you don’t get what I’m saying yet.

When we feel oppressed, when we feel beaten down, when we feel that the enemy is gaining ground on us and we just can’t go on any more, it’s all a lie. It’s a lie!

If you’re tired, that’s one thing. I get that. Go get some rest. Your body is tired, go get some rest. That’s not what I’m talking about right now.

When we feel oppressed, can’t you see, we are actually choosing to be oppressed. Listen, don’t make this about race, I’m not even going to entertain that. I’m not going to discuss what happened when our Great, Great Grandparents were here. I’m talking about today. What you are experiencing in your skin, in your heart today, right now.

Jesus gave you all authority and all power and He didn’t hold anything back. You didn’t just get a portion of it. You have access to the FULLNESS of His power and authority.

Another great thing about this is that when you draw from His power, you’re not depleting the supply. He never runs out. When He gives you power, He doesn’t have to make sure the store room is kept full just in case you need more because we may run low. No! You have a limitless supply of Him, His authority (over everything by the way), and a limitless supply of His power.

So, you know what that means don’t you?

That’s right.

All we have to do is Get Up Stand Up. Stand up for your right. You are a rightful, Joint-Heir to the throne. Jesus is your brother.

Our job now is, you guessed it, don’t give up the fight.

When we operate out of a sense of Adoption, knowing that we belong, that we have a place in the Kingdom, now we will approach situations differently.

If I walk into a room while I am thinking that the people here are making fun of me, I may not have a good visit.

But if I walk into a room and believe that I can bring them something they may not have, joy. If I can bring Kingdom joy to the people in this room, things will turn out much differently.

You see that is the difference of letting your life be an expression of who you are.

That is Living the Freedom Life.

If you are tired of the hot summer sun scorching you and burning up everything that once was alive, use this weekend, Labor Day weekend to celebrate the end of that season.

Get Up, and Stand Up. Because there is greatness inside of you and anything that stands in the way of that coming out, you have the authority inside of you to move it. Even if it IS a mountain.

If you want to know more on how to start doing that, let us know. That’s what we are here for.

We will see you soon, Living the Freedom Life, this is Kyle
